Reinvention has been a way of life for me.

I went through mid-life crisis at 26 years old.  I was the VP and CFO of a small full-service brokerage firm and felt completely unfulfilled.  I had career success, but inside I felt like a fraud.  My personal life was a mess.  My biggest fear was that people would find out I didn’t really know what I was doing and that my life was a sham.

From the outside, it looked like I had it all together:

a great job, a two-bedroom flat in a nice neighborhood, money in the bank and a fancy sports-car.  But on the inside, I was full of insecurities and doubt.

I knew something needed to change.

That inner work lead to finding my passion.

While earning a living as an actress and model, I received an opportunity to become a spokesperson for an International automotive company and accidentally found my thing. I loved traveling, meeting new people and I LOVED being a speaker!  About six-months after getting the job, I was chosen to get training to be a trainer.  That is how my career as a public speaker and a trainer came into being.

Things were going very well in my career but I was still playing it safe and keeping myself small. I knew that I was capable of so much more and suspected that I was in my own way. Then…

I met my coach and life went from good to great!

I wanted a “do over”.

I quit my job, packed up my car and moved to Los Angeles.

I didn’t know what I was going to do or how I was going to earn a living.  The only thing I knew was that instead of living my life for everyone else, I was finally going to live my life for myself.

For years I had been trying to prove to others that I was good enough.  Trying to live up to the expectations of my family and the world.  I had set out to prove that even though I was young, black and female I was as smart as the men who dominated the financial industry. Now I was going to find out who I was without the expectations of others.

I began an inner journey.

I started taking yoga, meditating and learning how to slow down and breathe.  I was realizing that I didn’t have to go through life at a break neck pace and started doing things just because I wanted to and not because I needed to excel and prove anything.

Through working with my coach, I found the courage and confidence to step onto a bigger stage and play at a higher level.

I was seeing opportunities and going after them in the face of fear. Staying in action even when there were no visible signs of progress. I was truly trusting my gut and following my intuition. I learned to get comfortable with being uncomfortable.

My heart expanded in a way I never expected and left me more open than ever. I found I was connecting with people in a much deeper way and allowing them to really “see” me which allowed me to truly see them.

This ignited a desire in me to create a space for others to experience the kind of transformation I had.
